Welcome to my wine bar: A DIY guide to your own chalkboard wine signs.

It seems like forever since I last sat down and seriously blogged.  Most of my posts lately have been wine related stories informing you about fabulous Arizona wine events.  But no fear, I still have some new stories up my sleeve and I still have a winery visit post that I have yet to get done!  Sorry Zapara Vineyards, I have not forgotten about you!

As I wrote in an earlier post, we are finally decorating and remodeling our house (after only ten years of living here), so I have been a very busy girl.  Most of my days are filled with not only the normal day to day routine of motherhood but now my mind and hands are filled with projects.  Lately, the only time I am on the computer is to look up stuff to buy on Craigslist or stuff to make on Pinterest.  And most of us know just how addicting Pintrest can be.  So by the time I get a chance to relax and drink a glass (or two) of wine, the last thing I want to do is write about it.  Really, I just want to drink it and not think.

But now I have a project that I am very proud of and want to share on my blog.  It is super easy, super cheap (my decorating M.O.) project and it fits in perfectly with my blog.  I have moved around tons of furniture in the last month, and with all that moving my wine fridge lost its home.  It was in the kitchen, which makes sense, but with all the moving around of other pieces it needed a new home because the kitchen spot had been taken.  So, since it is black, and big, and requires you to pay attention to it, I needed to find a way to make it work with the rest of my new decor.  I mean it is my wine fridge after all, it needs and requires a good home.  So I make a little vignette for it in a dead corner of my living room.  Then I saw on the wonderful Pinterest someone had made chalkboard signs from frames.  And then I thought, why not make my own wine chalkboard signs, like the ones you see in local wine bars.   Viola my creation was formed!  So here are the results, I hope you like it, because I love it!

This was so easy.  Bought 4 frames from Goodwill, and gutted them.  This frame was already black which was a big bonus.  I used some scrapbook paper as the backing, then taped out the border, and spray painted with chalkboard paint right on the glass.  Once the glass dried I put it back together, and wrote on it!

Here is the side angle.  I am thinking I still may add these cute wine cork plates I have just lying around in the open wall at the corner.

My over packed wine fridge.  Man this baby works hard!

A close up of the finished chalkboard frames.  The bottom three frames I spray painted the whole glass with the chalkboard paint, so I would have the whole surface to write on.  And the bottom frame was white, but I wanted it black so a quick two coats of black paint and it was perfect.  As you can read I need to go shopping for more rose'!  I am so happy with the results.  The whole project maybe cost me $15, nice huh?!

Now I know exactly what is in my wine fridge without opening it every time and forging through it.  It is a great way to keep me organized, and it just looks to darn cute!  Plus every time I walk down the wall it puts a smile on my face.  Cheers!

Hopefully, I inspired you with your next wine related project.  Or better yet, if you have a competed project please share below, and lets keep the wine and the creativity flowing.  Oh and while you are here please follow me on Pinterest, but be warned it will suck into a vortex that you may not be able to climb out of:)
