About Me

It started with baby steps...  my mom allowed a shot of boxed wine with nice dinners starting in middle school.  Later I discovered wine in actual bottles while in college... White Zin!  Like all addictions I soon graduated to the "harder stuff".

After splurging and visiting the boutique wineries in Napa Valley, wine had me hooked.  The wines we tasted expanded my palate and my mind and started an endless journey of discovery.  Around the same time I also discovered the new market of Arizona wines, down in Soniota/Elgin.  I was starting to fall in love with every aspect of that luscious grape.

Funny thing is, as a young 20 something I was never taken serious as a wine oenophile.  But my thirst for knowledge about everything wine continued regardless. I started watching my favorite wine gal, the then Andrea Immer on Fine Living network, and reading her books.  Then I purchased Karen MacNiels' :Wine Bible", and learned how to drink and study wine like a pro.  Soon our local wine shop owner, believed in my new found passion and I got to taste some new and exciting wines.

I am also an adventurous home cook and my new quest is finding the best pairing possible.  I have known about the magic of food and wine, but never really took the time to fully connect the two until now.  I carefully take notes on every meal, each recipe, and each precious bottle of vino.  I am on the journey of finding that perfect, as I call it, Magic Pairing.

I should mention, I'm not rich and famous.  I'm a mom who works part time and married to a teacher.  Afterall, so much wine information out there is about what the experts drink.  But can your bank account and waistline afford their recommendations?  I am writing to debunk the myth that only the highly skilled chefs and sommielers can create magic on a plate.

I like to watch what I eat as well, so not only will my recipes be good for your wallet, they will also be friendly with your waistline.  Please use my blog as your everyday guide to food and wine pairings!   Because wine is not just for special occasions, as I have learned from Andrea, it is as essential as salt, and can easily be enjoyed with even the most humble of dishes.

In addition, I love my home state of Arizona, afterall they are part of reason I got into this crazy wine obsession.  So I will also be focusing on what this great budding wine scene has to offer, and educating the cyber world the Arizona is more that just cactus and amazing sunsets.

Enjoy because I know I will!

Thanks mom!
